"After education and research, student activities and organizations are the third pillar of this school."
– Vice-Rector emeritus for Education Zdeněk Bělohlav

"According to my personal experience and the experience of many of your predecessors, it turns out that participation in student activities is the best school of life that you can take into account for your studies. It means that you enter adulthood with a desire to change the world around you, to leave a mark and to not settle for average.”
– Rector Pavel Matějka

"UCT Prague aims to accommodate all constructive activities of students, especially those that develop the abilities of (participating) students themselves, student life or otherwise help build a richer and more dynamic community at VŠCHT Prague."
– Rector emeritus Karel Melzoch

A diploma is not enough

The EDUin survey shows that employers look at much more than just educational attainment during interviews. Participation in student associations and senates is a striking part of career success. Why? In an organization, you and your peers experience what it's like to lead a team, manage an organization, deal with partners, promote, manage finances, etc.

You will meet other capable classmates and start to attract people who are interested in similar goals, you may use the valuable experience more in the future than you expected.

Do you have ideas on how to move the university forward, but feel like no one will talk to you? Do you want to join existing projects? Do you want to become a part of the never-ending process of finding the best way to operate the university?

Student senators are your representatives in the management of UCT Prague and in the management of individual faculties, where they defend the interests of all of us and ensure that students have the best possible conditions for their studies. You can contact the student senators whenever you have an idea, constructive criticism, comment or any problem related to the organization of the university or faculty.
[ikona] => [obrazek] => [ogobrazek] => [pozadi] => [obsah] =>
Students are in principle (and by law) an essential part of the educational process. At universities, students are directly involved in making decisions about the school's future through academic senates.

Being a senator is hard work and you can't get much done in one election period, that's why senators join together in a larger body - a college, where former senators, unsuccessful candidates and others cooperate.  There is no need to jump straight into unknown waters - you can get involved in other ways than through candidacy!

Who we are?

The Academic Senate is by law the highest decision-making body of every university and faculty. Its main agenda includes approving the budget and approving the rector's/dean's returns and internal directives. There are five senates in total. One "large" school-wide one (AS UCT) and one "small" at each faculty (e.g. AS FCE). In the large senate, the student chamber has 8 representatives (2 from each faculty in any degree). There are always 4 student representatives in the faculty senates, two doctoral and two bachelor + master students. Elections to the student section of all senates are held uniformly every fall. Students make up roughly a third of all members in each senate. The rest are made up of academic staff of faculties and individual institutes. The current representation of students in senates can be found on the Czech section of the website.

What's in for you?

Being a senator will give you experience of running a university and an insight into what it's like from the other side of the department. You will learn to act in a team and negotiate compromise solutions to problems. If you want to become a senator, nominate yourself in the next elections, which will be held in the fall. If you think you don't have enough experience for this yet, join K3S first and get involved in solving various projects unofficially.

University clubs are an integral part of campus life. But these are not the clubs for the chosen few that you see in American films - our clubs bring together people interested in culture, sport, the arts and other areas. So whether you want to interact with international students, play hockey, take photos, or participate in cultural events on campus, clubs are the way to do it.

[ikona] => [obrazek] => [ogobrazek] => [pozadi] => [obsah] =>

Why join?

Membership in a university club allows you to make valuable friendships outside your study group, year or faculty. It is also one of the most effective tools to develop soft skills such as teamwork, time management or people management. In addition, through your activity you can continuously clarify what role you are most comfortable with in teamwork and move forward in the process of self-discovery, which will be very important for job selection!

How to join a club?

Simply find the contact details of the leader under the relevant society and get in touch via any communication channel. You have nothing to worry about, new members are always welcome.

How to start a club?

You need to register a new society at the Counselling and Career Centre (940). It's easy: just have a few people (min. 2) in the party, a clear purpose and a completed application form. There is NO need to form an organization in the legal sense. The registration form and detailed information can be found in the Rules bellow.

Support and facilities

The Counselling and Career Centre (CCC) provides support to university clubs in a variety of areas.

Do you feel like doing something but don't know exactly which way to go? Drop by our office anytime to discuss your ideas and help direct you to one of the societies or start a new one.

Societies can also contact CCC if they are facing disagreements, differences of opinion or staffing crises, or if they are unsure about technical facilities and production issues.

The CCC allows all registered societies to set up a team in the MS Teams application. If you are interested (and you are the leader of a society), please write an email to the Secretary or the Head of the Computing Centre to request the creation of Teams and add a link to your society's registration form. Someone from K3S will be happy to show you how Teams works!

Faculty rivalry at UCT Prague has been going on for a long time, but with the advent of the Šípek's Faculty Championship, faculties have the opportunity to compete in sports and other disciplines officially!

Throughout the academic year, our 4 brilliant faculties battle it out to score valuable points in a variety of events from chess tournaments to dragon boat races. The faculty that has the most points at the end of the year can then boast of the supreme championship, unquestionable proof of their superiority and the travelling Šípek's Cup all the next year!

And who is this Šípek? The decision of who to name the cup after was very simple. The legendary founder of Kachekran, who was instrumental in boosting the social life of our alma mater, Associate Professor Milan Šípek, agreed to become the patron of the Cup.

Disciplines:
(chronologically during the academic year)

Team size and scoring may vary for each discipline (see individual discipline descriptions). Anyone can participate. Faculty staff participation is not excluded. We strive to have an equal participation of women and men.

Teams are led by faculty captains and draft participants primarily from faculty FB groups. If you want to participate in any event and support your faculty, contact your captain(s) for 2022/2023:

Logo VitriolDo you have a favorite teacher at your school who has always motivated you, influenced the direction of your scientific career, or did you just always look forward to their lectures? Do you want to acknowledge his/her work? Nominate him/her for the Vitriol Student Award!

[ikona] => [obrazek] => [ogobrazek] => [pozadi] => [obsah] =>

What's going on?

The Vitriol Student Award is an award given by students to the most popular teaching and non-teaching staff at the UCT. The aim is to recognise the work of those who innovate teaching beyond their job responsibilities, who can enthuse us about their field with their passion and knowledge in lectures, and who are a support and mentor whenever we need it. As a sign of respect for their work, which we do not overlook and deeply appreciate, we are recognizing five faculty members as well as one non-teaching staff member each year starting in 2021. In doing so, we would also like to acknowledge the work of people in the dean's and rector's offices, which are equally important to the running of the school and the needs of the students.

How does it work?

The award consists of four consecutive steps, which are managed by an organising team led by K3S.

The first step is the nomination of candidates for the award, in which any of you can get involved in the form described in the following section "How can I get involved?". Awards are given in six categories according to the official school structure:

Teacher - FCT
Teacher  - FET
Teacher  - FFBT
Teacher - FCE
Teacher - non-faculty departments
Non-teacher - Administration of University Facilities, Rector's office and Dean's offices

The second step is to select a shortlist of candidates for the purpose of electing the winner, which will be done by the organizing committee based on the information received from the students during the nomination process. This step results in a list of five to six candidates for the award in each category, supported by relevant arguments.

The third step is the secret ballot of the winners in each category. The voters are student senators from all academic senates, who will decide on the awardees in the following composition:

Teacher - FCT (6 students - 4 AS FCT + 2 AS UCT)
Teacher - FET (6 students - 4 AS FET + 2 AS UCT)
Teacher - FFBT (6 students - 4 AS FFBT + 2 AS UCT)
Teacher - FCE (6 students - 4 AS FCE + 2 AS UCT)

How can I get involved?

As a student, you can nominate teaching and non-teaching staff who you think deserve to win the award. Each student can make 6 nominations, with a maximum of 1 in each category. A nomination form must be completed for each nomination separately, you can submit up to 6 forms for 6 different categories if you are at your full potential. The nomination form is available online only. When nominating, be sure to comment on why you think your favourite should win. The comment is one of the award criteria, so it's really important to fill it in. You can nominate your candidate until September 30.

If you are not sure which category your nominee belongs to, you can always check the University's organisation page or write to the organisers.

Our mission

We all know that scientific research can be a stressful journey, on which you are expected to be a master of different things such as public speaking, writing scientific articles and research grant proposals, teaching, having a clear mind filled with imagination, respecting deadlines, and, still, to be a kind person with the understanding to yourself and the others. It’s very tough to be everything, but easier and even funny with the others!

We create a friendly environment for sharing ideas, knowledge, general survival tips and many more by organizing a range of activities you can see on the list of working groups. Would you like to join some of the groups? Or do you have a new idea for an activity you would like to realize? Let’s register and/or contact us!

Agenda

We are bringing interesting speakers from various fields to lecture us about their topic. - Deep Mind lectures

Investing time and interest into hardware projects, various forms of modern engineering and art. - Craft Club

Communication is one of the most important pillars of science. The researchers should be able to clearly present the idea of their work but also to be open to the thoughts of others. This stream of exchange should flow not only in our laboratories but also within a broader scientific community. Just as we have our labs where we talk to our mates, we also need a space to meet people from other departments. The job of the PhD_Post.doc Talks working group is to create this space and facilitate the interconnections of young researchers at our university.

[ikona] => [obrazek] => [ogobrazek] => [pozadi] => [obsah] =>

PhD_Post.doc club: what is it?

PhD_post.doc Club is about meeting of all people but especially PhD candidates and postdocs from our alma mater

You can look forward to lectures from your colleagues (mostly PhDs and postdocs) and an opportunity to meet people from your surroundings.

The purpose of our meetings

Before establishing this club (March 2019), there were no regular events which would bring together UCT PhD students and postdoctoral researchers . Markéta has found this “vacant orbital” at our university which cried to be occupied and saw this as an opportunity to open more communication channels at our university, and break down the language and cultural bareers. If not anything else, we all are members of one particular culture – the scientific one. So, yep, the event is mandatorily in English. If you are afraid of English (Czech and Slovak colleagues 😊), let’s overcome it!

Thus, there are two major purposes of the PhD_Post.doc club – social and educational.

PhD_post.doc is a chance how to meet your colleagues from different fields, broaden your knowledge or list of your contacts... simply said, just to be involved!

PhD_Post.doc offer an opportunity to present your research, research group, laboratory equipment you can share with others, or your experience from abroad... Basically, if you choose to present you can share with us whatever you want! The only two rules are that it should be somehow connected with science or researcher’s life, and of course, it must be in line with the Code of Ethics of UCT.

It is a great chance for training not only your presentation skills but also of being a listener. People do not have to have many opportunities to present but eventually, they will have to do it and likely it will be in front of strange people in an unfamiliar environment. Here, you can try it among your colleagues and friends and get well-meant honest feedback from them.

Other benefits for PhD_Post.doc speakers

  1. As self-evaluation is one of the best feedbacks, we offer to record your presentation and give you the recording to be able to see yourself in action. You then decide whether we publish it on the official UCT YouTube channel or not.
  2. You can also be a chairman of the meeting. Nevertheless, anyone who would like to try to chair a session of presentations can become the chairman😊.

How are the meetings organized?

There are always 2 parts:

1st part: Lectures

It usually takes one hour but with a maximum of an hour and a half. Usually, there are 2 or 3 lectures given by our PhD candidates and postdocs. However, invited speakers are not excluded. Every lecture takes approximately 20 min including a discussion which follows immediately after the talk.

2nd part: Time for the meet-and-greet

Free refreshment and space for talking and fun. As we are on the university grounds alcohol is prohibited. Nevertheless, after some time, we can continue somewhere else (but it is no longer for free) 😊.

Following that, it's time for the refreshments and meet-and-greet!

Speaker 1

Silver and gold nanoparticles and their applications

Oldřich Cicvárek

Nanoparticles of precious metals can be both colorful and beautiful, but can they also be useful? Can we use them for healing little animals or even humans? And what about to harm? Would you like to know more?

Speaker 2

Can we influence microbial interactions with nanofibers through morphology adjustment?

Simona Lencová

Modifying the morphology and structure of nanofibers is a promising way to suppress microbial risks without the need to functionalize nanomaterials with antimicrobial substances. In our research, we investigate the influence of fibre diameter, surface density, and surface structures on biofilm formation and the retention of microbial cells.

Speaker 3

Antimicrobial properties of metal nanoparticles biosynthesized by plant waste

Jana Michailidu

Metal nanoparticles are growing in popularity in recent years. Are you curious how we can make their production cheaper and more sustainable? This lecture will introduce you to biological methods that offer just that.

Postdoc at the NIH, or There and Back again
Lecture part (4:00 - 5:00 PM)
Retrovirus, NIH, and a CAR-T cell walk into a bar... The beginning of the worst joke
ver or a topic of an antypical Thursday afternoon talk.
Abstract:
This lecture is going to be slightly unusual. My journey from studies at UCT Prague to research at the
National Institutes of Health and back to Prague, this time into the industry. I will give a brief overview
of what the NIH is, how it works, and what you can expect if you decide to go there—and why you
should at least think about it. There is going to be some science as well—how is the retroviral particle
assembled around its genomic information, why is it important to know, and how problematic is to find
out the right answer. I will wind up the talk with a short experience with work in the pharmaceutical
industry—how hard is the transition, how is industry different from academia, and how is the work not
really that different.
Free refreshment and time for a meet-and-greet! (5:30 - 8:00 PM)
Please, register here. It will help us with the organization (especially to ensure a sufficient quantity of
refreshments). The registration is not a condition for participation.
What is UNIQORN?
We are a new academic association of students and employees of UCT, aiming to bring all students and
employees closer together and increase their interaction within and across departments. All this alongside with broadening of the education of all of us.
How? We are planning to organize compelling talks, lectures, workshops, or student activities.
UNIQORN welcomes people with a broad range of interests, and for this reason, the association is divided into working groups. This lecture is organized by the oldest group, PhD_Post.doc Talks, from which
the UNIQORN association technically has emerged.
If you are interested in joining us and becoming a member, please, contact marketa.novakova@vscht.cz.
Short Introduction of the lecturer:
Tomáš Kroupa is currently a Process Development Specialist at SCTbio in Prague. SCTbio
is a Contract Development and Manufacturing Organization that produces cancer
therapy and currently has one CAR-T cell therapy in Phase I clinical trial. Tomáš obtained
his Ph.D. in biochemistry at the University of Chemistry and Technology, Prague, and then
spent 4.5 years as a Visiting Postdoctoral Fellow at the National Cancer Institute in
the United States where he was a member of the Retrovirus Assembly Section of the HIV Dynamics and
Replication Program studying recognition of viral genomic RNA for packaging.

Being overburdened by lab work and research might make you vulnerable to tunnel vision and isolation. From time to time, it is necessary to take a deep breath and broaden your knowledge through different perspectives and to challenge yourself with ideas from the outside world. The UNIQORN Deep Mind working group organizes invited lectures given by professionals from a variety of backgrounds, sometimes scientific‑related, sometimes not, nevertheless, always enriching our scientific minds! Besides this, we are also focusing on the psychological aspects of our community. Thus, we plan to organize lectures raising awareness about mental health and social issues.

The lecture was held in czech language.

We want to save the planet from global warming, but we don't even understand the basic climate trends of the geological present. There is an ongoing dispute between climatologists, who use numerical models to try to understand the long-term dynamics of the Earth's climate system, and paleoecologists, who reconstruct climate trends based on proxy data derived from the geological record.
Has the Anthropocene, a new geological epoch, already arrived?

Are we getting baked, or is another ice age coming?
Should we keep calm or should we panic?

These questions are answered by Assoc. Prof. Petr Pokorný, Ph.D., paleoecologist and environmental archaeologist, director of the Centre for Theoretical Studies, a joint department of Charles University and the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic.

The lecture was held in english.

We are interested in how the chemical modification of macropolyhedral boron hydride clusters produces changes in their physical properties, and in particular, with a regard to the interaction of these molecules with laser light. At very high excitation energies, our investigations hold relevance to the generation of boron-proton plasmas, and, at lower excitation energies, emission from electronically excited states that form the basis for an important class of light sources. Here, our discovery that solutions of the boron hydride anti-B18H22 generate photostable blue laser emission stands out in its significance as the first laser borane. [1,2] Our current research seeks to fully understand the potential and limitations of this and other new luminescent borane molecules at a fundamental level with an aim to maximise laser efficiency and photostability. This presentation will present how these goals can be achieved by forging a comprehensive understanding of the photophysics and photochemistry of anti-B18H22, [3] and investigating the effect chemical substitutions and derivatizations have on the absorption and emission characteristics of this and related boranes. [4-6] Ultimately, the successful completion of these aims will further the prospects of the boranes as a novel and competitive alternative to present organic laser dyes and luminescent materials.

It has been more than a year since a large fire broke out in the Czech Switzerland National Park. Let's look back at this event together and listen to a speech about what fire means to us in an ecological context.

Fire is a natural part of the development and behaviour of many native ecosystems. Recent palaeoecological studies show that fires were quite common in Central Europe in the past millennia. Thus, fires have significantly influenced the shape of many habitats, maintained treelessness and were a common part of forest dynamics. However, over the last few centuries we have effectively eliminated fire from our landscape. The main event of last summer was a large-scale fire in the Bohemian Switzerland National Park, which stirred debate about the impact of fires on nature and the threat of similar events in the future. The aim of the lecture is to link all these contexts, to grasp fire as a huge opportunity for the natural evolution of our ecosystems and to offer solutions for the future, including preventive measures and targeted use of fire in the landscape.

Can we recreate the scents of the past using modern experimental methods? What chemistry and history can teach each other about smell and scent in the ancient world?

Sean Coughlin - the philosopher working in an organic chemistry lab trying to figure out ancient perfumery’s place in the history of science.

How a group of researchers at the Alchemies of Scent project are using modern experimental techniques to unravel the recipes of five Greco-Egyptian perfumes from the time of Alexander the Great and Cleopatra VII. Come not to only see and hear but also to smell, touch, and taste!

Sean is a research fellow at the Institute of Philosophy and an associate scientist at IOCB. His work has been exhibited at the National Geographic Museum and covered by, e.g. Czech Television, the BBC, and the Washington Post.

As scientists, one of the skills we need to master is scientific writing. I am sure you have heard the phrase “publish or perish” several times. Unfortunately, scientific writing is not the most easy part of the job and we tend to procrastinate, but it does not need to be so. With the “Writing Team”, we are all motivated scientists who provide support for each other to make the writing process easier, productive and more enjoyable. What can you expect? We provide you with tips on establishing a personal writing routine, how to overcome writer’s block and get into writing. There are two approaches: (1) Writing Buddies – where you find a writing partner to whom you are accountable and meet regularly to support each other in writing and reviewing of texts. (2) Writing Sessions - are live writing events where a group of scientists meet for 3 h of focused time to preferably write a manuscript for reviewed journal or read journal papers. We really hope that by participating in our writing buddy or sessions you will begin to enjoy writing.

Mechanical contact, friction and wear causes detrimental effects in most machines with moving elements, which ultimately limits their lifetime and reliability. High-temperature bulk Superconducting Magnetic Bearings (SMB) offer a passive and frictionless alternative for the construction of advanced machines and mechanisms with improved performance. In this lecture, state-of-the-art applications in engineering and space applications of SMB are introduced: from renewable energy storage flywheels to advance optical instruments in space telescopes. Furthermore, the requirements and fundamentals of the design of SMB will be discussed, alongside ways for improvement of their levitation and mechanical properties. Finally, future opportunities for further development of the technology will be introduced.

Markéta Šoltysová

Markéta is a PhD candidate at UCT Prague and the initiator of the UNIQORN association. In 2019, she started to organize monthly meetings known as PhD_Post.doc Club, in which PhD candidates and postdoctoral researchers have had the opportunity to share their research, try to present in a friendly environment and meet their colleagues. At the beginning of 2022, she decided to broaden this initiative. She called for people to join her, they built up a team and brought new activities that they covered with the UNIQORN association. Markéta does her PhD at the Institute of Organic Chemistry and Biochemistry (Czech Academy of Science), studying structures of proteins and protein‑DNA complexes and thus revealing the molecular mechanism of their functions. In her free time, she enjoys jogging and walking in nature, loves theatre and flying to worlds of her fantasy.

Vilém Bartůněk

Vilém Bartůněk is assistant professor in the Department of Inorganic chemistry. His professional interests are very broad, doing everything and nothing. Alongside of advanced superconducting ceramics, inorganic chemistry, and nanotechnology of course including biomedical and environmental research in this area, he is doing some archeometry stuff. As customary in UCT, he is a drunkard and bit kinky. His personal hobbies are juvenile jokes, pubs, and business trips.

Jáchym Šuman

Jáchym is an assistant professor at the Department of Biochemistry and Microbiology at UCT Prague. Currently, he keeps an eye on the students in the lab and tries not to stab himself with a pipet while playing around with some microscopic bugs and experimental plants. During his scientific carrier, he has tackled multiple topics, nevertheless, all of them were in some way related to ecology and environmental conservation and restoration. And such are also most of his interests and hobbies – these include watching various scientific talks and subsequently discussing them while having a glass of beer, wacky walks in exciting nature areas and searching for weird plants and various bugs and little beings, and acquainting their life histories. Consequently, he also keeps a bunch of such weirdoes at home, including carnivorous plants and stag and rhino beetles. Apart from that, he’s into reading books and listening to mindful music of all genres.

Edith Mawunya Kutorglo

Edith is a postdoctoral researcher at UCT Prague on research mobility to the TU Berlin in Germany. After her PhD degree in Chemical and Process Engineering at UCT Prague, she received a personal grant from the European Structural and Investment Funds, within the OP RDE-funded project 'CHEMFELLS IV' which enabled her to join the Department of Chemistry at the TU Berlin. Within the framework of her postdoc, Edith combines her multidisciplinary background in Membrane Engineering, Polymer Synthesis and Colloidal Engineering to design visible light active catalysts for photocatalytic reactions i.e. water splitting and CO2 reduction to hydrocarbons. Photocatalytic processes that utilize just sunlight instead of electricity to recycle waste CO2 are promising to solve environmental pollution and facilitate the integration of clean renewable enerygy. Because sunlight is free and abundant, Edith is passionate about understanding the structure-property-function relationships of these catalysts in order to efficiently drive reactions using sunlight. In her spare time, she enjoys jogging and journalling / writing and trying out cuisine from other cultures, she is however still learning how to overcome her fear of sushi 😊.

Jan Myšák

Honza Myšák studies the synthesis and production of pharmaceuticals and conducts research at the Department of Organic Chemistry. His main focus in UNIQORN is Wikipedia, which he edits since 2019 when he discovered it to be the perfect place to pursue his dream career of professional grammar nazi. He is rather fond of hiking, pubs, books and heavy metal, not necessarily in this order.
Jan

Alžběta Nemeškalová

Alžběta has educational background in Pharmacy and Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry, although the latter her colleagues still find hard to believe. Her professional focus is Chromatography and Mass Spectrometry, but she is interested in science in general, especially in healthcare science and pharmaceutics. Influenced by the modern scientific skepticism, she is particularly interested in in critical thinking and understanding and evaluation of scientific studies. She is of the opinion that good presentation of scientific results is at least as important as obtaining good data, if not more. She believes in Evidence-based medicine. In her free time, she enjoys seeing the world and trying her best not to be disappointed. Her best friend is a shoe.

Jonáš Priškin

Jonas is a masters student of pharmaceuticals, but more than drugs, his focus is on popularisation, propagation and media activities. Among his hobbies, photography is emerging as a profession, climbing keeps him sane and science + news podcast his ears occupied while biking through Prague. You can find him behind tech at UNIQORN events or in chemical depot assembling another chemistry show.

Mili Viktorie Losmanová

Mili has a bachelor's degree in English and American Studies from Charles University. Since she was a child, English has been a part of her life as are British history and literature. Now she is finishing her master’s degree in Anglophone studies. At UCT Prague, she works in the Research and Technology Transfer department. Apart from that, Mili has a cultural background with broad experience from sales and PR & marketing field. From 2018-2020 Mili worked as the head of sales at the National Theare. After 10 years in culture, she decided it was a high time for a change and she is about to explore the university world, which she finds very interesting.

Monika Hittlová

Monika is a Ph.D. candidate at the Department of polymers at UTC Prague. She received her master's degree in polymer engineering at the Tomáš Baťa University in Zlín. Her current research focuses on the recycling of waste rubber. In her free time, she enjoys cooking, reading books, walking in nature or doing absolutely nothing.

Tereza Leonhardt

Tereza Leonhardt works part time as assistant professor at the Department of Biochemistry and Microbiology where she tries to excite students about possibilities fungi bring to our world. Her scientific career is intertwined with fungi as well, currently delving deep into the phenomenon of heavy metal accumulation in mushrooms. She noticed her friends from UCT have joined this club, thus she decided to join it too. In her free time, she likes to smash the patriarchy and be a good part time mom.

The lecture was held in czech language.

RNDr. Ondřej Sedláček, Ph.D., (* 1977 Příbram) teaches and researches at the Department of Ecology of the Charles University and is active in the non-profit organization Protection of Fauna of the Czech Republic, o.p.s.He is engaged in research on bird communities in the forests and savannas of sub-Saharan Africa. In our country, he is intensively involved in modern nature conservation, from practical management in the landscape to efforts to change people's thinking and the actions of officials.

The lecture was held in english language.
