Join us at PhD_Post.doc Talks on the 18th of April 2024 at 5 PM at Uhelna!

PhD_Post.doc is here again! Thanks to the UNIQORN Association, the platform for PhD students and postdocs at our university to showcase their research, achievements, and suffering, was resurrected.

During the lecture session (5 PM – 6 PM), our PhD students and postdocs will deliver their talks.

Following that, it's time for the refreshments and meet-and-greet!

Silver and gold nanoparticles and their applications

Nanoparticles of precious metals can be both colorful and beautiful, but can they also be useful? Can we use them for healing little animals or even humans? And what about to harm? Would you like to know more?

Can we influence microbial interactions with nanofibers through morphology adjustment?

Simona Lencová

Modifying the morphology and structure of nanofibers is a promising way to suppress microbial risks without the need to functionalize nanomaterials with antimicrobial substances. In our research, we investigate the influence of fibre diameter, surface density, and surface structures on biofilm formation and the retention of microbial cells.

Metal nanoparticles are growing in popularity in recent years. Are you curious how we can make their production cheaper and more sustainable? This lecture will introduce you to biological methods that offer just that.
