Tereza Leonhardt
|
Tereza Leonhardt works part-time as an assistant professor at the Department of Biochemistry and Microbiology, where she tries to inspire students with the possibilities that fungi bring to our world. Her scientific career is also closely linked to fungi; she is currently focusing on the phenomenon of heavy metal accumulation in mushrooms. She noticed that her friends from UCT joined this club, so she decided to join as well. In her free time, she enjoys smashing the patriarchate and tries to be a good part-time mom.

Vilém Bartůněk
|
Vilém Bartůněk is an assistant professor at the Department of Inorganic Chemistry. His professional interests are very broad—he does everything and nothing. Alongside advanced superconducting ceramics, inorganic chemistry, and nanotechnology—including biomedical and environmental research—he also engages in archaeometry. As is custom at UCT, he is a drunkard and a bit of a pervert. His personal hobbies include juvenile jokes, pubs, and business trips.

Jáchym Šuman
|
Jáchym is an assistant professor at the Department of Biochemistry and Microbiology at UCT Prague. He currently supervises students in the laboratory, trying not to get poked by a pipette while playing with microscopic critters and experimental plants. Throughout his scientific career, he has focused on various topics, all of which were somehow connected to ecology, environmental protection, and restoration. His interests and hobbies are similar—they include watching various scientific lectures and discussing them over a beer, bizarre walks through interesting natural sites searching for strange plants, insects, and other creatures, and learning about their life stories. He even keeps some of these oddities at home, such as carnivorous plants or stag and rhinoceros beetles. In addition, he enjoys reading books and listening to meditative music of all genres.

Věra Schrenková
| Věra Schrenková is a doctoral student who spends her days gently whispering to molecules, hoping they will one day answer her through Raman spectra. She specializes in polarized light spectroscopy, calculations, and despairing over spectral backgrounds. She is currently emotionally connected to her Raman microscope, which she lovingly modified to be able to measure things that no one cares about. As a 2024 FameLab finalist, she had her moment of fame when she convinced the audience that vibrational modes are sexy—and she has been trying to catch up with that moment ever since. Věra collects rare houseplants, vintage clothing, and weird emotions. She either practices yoga to find inner peace or drinks expensive posh beer to immediately lose it again. | ![]() |
Dajana Kolářová
| I began my scientific journey by studying biochemistry at UCT Prague and researching protein structures at the IOCB CAS. Since one demanding field clearly wasn't enough, I decided to pursue a Master's degree in bioinformatics—a space where biological chaos meets algorithmic order. My ADHD brain runs at full throttle—constantly connecting disciplines, building systems, testing AI tools, and getting excited about new projects before even finishing the assignment. Sometimes this means I'm involved in more things than most calendars can handle... but it is in that variety that I feel most alive. Outside the lab, I have a creative alter ego: I focus on photography, visual design, and video production. A scientific poster, a festival's visual identity, and a wedding photoshoot all in one week? Why not. My hobbies include organizing chaos, connecting unrelated ideas, and learning new things just a bit faster than I forget why I started with them. |

Jan Myšák
|
Honza Myšák studies the synthesis and production of pharmaceuticals and conducts research at the Department of Organic Chemistry. His main focus within UNIQORN is Wikipedia, which he has been editing since 2019, when he discovered it was the ideal place to fulfill his dream of becoming a professional grammar nazi. He enjoys hiking, pubs, books, and heavy metal—not necessarily in that order.

Jonáš Priškin
|
Jonáš is a Master's student of pharmacy, but he is more interested in popularization, promotion, and media activities than in medications. His hobbies include photography, which is slowly turning into a profession; rock climbing keeps him sane, and science and news podcasts fill his ears while cycling through Prague. You can find him behind the equipment at UNIQORN events or in the chemical depot assembling the next chemistry show.

Markéta Šoltysová
|
Markéta is a doctoral student at UCT Prague and the initiator of the UNIQORN society. In 2019, she began organizing monthly meetings under the name PhD_Post.doc Club, where doctoral students and postdocs had the opportunity to share their research, practice presentations in a friendly environment, and get to know their colleagues. At the beginning of 2022, she decided to expand this initiative. She issued a call for others to join her, together they formed a team and introduced new activities under the umbrella of the UNIQORN society. Markéta is doing her doctorate at the Institute of Organic Chemistry and Biochemistry of the CAS, where she studies the structures of proteins and protein-DNA complexes, uncovering the molecular mechanisms of their functions. In her free time, she likes to run, go out into nature, loves theater, and flying into the worlds of her imagination.
