Orchestr VŠCHT Praha
An orchestra of students, employees, and friends of UCT Prague. We rehearse every week in the Respirium.
Who Are We?
We are a symphony orchestra composed of students, alumni, and faculty of UCT Prague, as well as students from other universities. We were founded in 2017 through student initiative to artistically compensate for the hours spent in lectures and laboratories. Since our inception, we have grown into a musical ensemble of approximately 60 players in full formation. We strive to ensure that music is fun not only for us but also for our listeners; therefore, we perform a diverse repertoire and add new pieces every semester, ranging from classical music to film scores, jazz, and pop. After rehearsals, we usually go for a beer, which is a great opportunity for new members to gain valuable information about professors and subjects, and most importantly, to make new friends.
Each semester we organize our own major concert. In the spring, we perform at school events such as Lesamáj, and in the winter semester, we traditionally participate in the Chemists' Ball and perform J.J. Ryba’s Czech Christmas Mass. We have also established collaborations with other student societies such as Chemchór and DiVOCH.
