DI(v)OCH

If you want to step onto the boards that mean the world, if you want to learn how to embrace a role and handle stage fright, if you want to get under the mask of acting or the art of improvisation, we are the ones you can join!◳ divoch (png) → (crop 215*215px)

Who are we?

The Theater of Willing Chemists (DiVOCH) is a group of students, employees, and friends of UCT Prague who are interested in theater. Whether you are interested in "classical" drama or theatrical improvisation (Chempro), you will find something to your liking here.

So far, we have mainly focused on classical drama (Crime and Punishment, The Ratcatcher, The Importance of Being Earnest). However, we are not afraid to experiment and create our own (so far) smaller plays and performances. We present our productions on stages such as the Dejvice Theater or the Drama Club (Činoherní klub). Furthermore, we participate in various events of our alma mater, partner universities, or other theaters. Our rehearsals take place once or twice a week in the evenings on the university premises.

Since 2011, we have been a source of cultural enrichment, inspiration, and unforgettable experiences, not only for the students and employees of UCT Prague. The history of the Theater of Willing Chemists began in the 2011/2012 academic year, when our ensemble was founded by now-alumni of our alma mater Martin Janda, Miroslava Nováková, and Lukáš Krásný. However, the life of DI(v)OCH did not end with their departure; its tradition continues to be cherished and, what’s more, its scope is expanding and open to new ideas brought by its members. The core of classical theater, which has produced plays like Crime and Punishment or Dyk's The Ratcatcher, expanded in 2016 to include an improvisation wing named Chempro, which has since performed several shows.

What will you gain?

We are playful, creative, and unstoppable. We are definitely not a closed society! So, if you want, come and discover with us what it means to stand on the boards that mean the world! (Author's note: The Dejvice Theater is the most frequent host of our performances). For those of you who do not wish to stand on the stage but want to join theater production in other ways, the same applies – our arms are open to you!

Trying to look under the mask of acting and improvisation means constantly working on yourself – how to perform in public, how to manage stage fright, improvise, and concentrate. You will learn to work with text and interpret it. If you don't want to act but would rather enjoy the theatrical world by creating costumes, sets, lighting, or music, the gate is, of course, open for you too!
