From "Oops" to "Aha!”: Biosensor Improvement Stories

What does it really take to turn a student biosensor project into a real-world innovation? Join us for the talk From "Oops" to "Aha!": Biosensor Improvement Stories – a behind-the-scenes look at the journey of an award winning UCTeam competing in the SensUs international competition. This team managed to design the best performing biosensor last year. This year they would like to take this idea one step further. Using the know-how they gathered last year they are trying to improve the biosensor and eventually prepare it for the real world and todays demanding market.

How do you go from an idea to a functional biosensor? And how do you convince the world it’s worth investing in? How can you apply biochemical approach to help real world patients?

Barbora is the head of the economic subteam and third-year student of Economics and Management. In the team she focuses on communication with sponsors, meetings with experts and addressing the challenge of product validation.

Aneta is part of the R&D subteam, 1st year master's student of Biomaterials. Her focus within the team is on electrochemical detection and biosensor performance. She works in the electrochemistry and corrosion lab at The Department of Metals and Corrosion Engineering.

Richard is part of the biochemical subteam. He is Brno patriot and he is working mainly on sustainable enzyme imobilisation. He is studying 2nd year Synthesis and Manufacturing of Pharmaceuticals and is part of Petr Cigler Synthetic Nanochemistry group at IOCB. He is also the captain of UCT handball team.
